2003年为纪念星云大师创作佛教音乐五十周年，也为让佛教音乐更普及化、大众化，佛光山宗委会及佛光山文教基金会特别举办「人间音缘－星云大师佛教歌曲音乐发表会」征曲活动。
　　连续三年来，在慈惠法师总策划下，以星云大师的诗偈佛法为歌词，全球喜好音乐者共襄盛举，以清净的音声、和谐的意境，流行的曲向，普遍传唱在每个角落之中，成为大家共同的歌，让社会洋溢着更多的祥和与融洽。
「人间音缘」旨在传递佛光山「给人信心、给人欢喜、给人希望、给人方便」的精神理念。
